Grassland Safaris is situated in the Free State province of South Africa, ideally positioned close enough to major hubs like Bloemfontein (40min by car) and Johannesburg (3.5 hours by car) to make the travel experience less taxing, but far enough to give guests a sense of being away from it all.
We target wild birds on a sustainable model, as we have been doing for over two decades. We know what it takes to create a memorable hunting experience. Exclusive access to the best concessions in the area, very limited pressure on bird populations, well trained gun dogs and comfortable accommodation all contribute towards the perfect hunt.
Our bird shooting concessions span an area in excess of a million hectares across diverse habitats of savannah grassland, Acacia bushveld, wetlands and crops, creating the ideal environment to support a wide variety of game birds in large numbers. We can boast with the biggest variety of game birds in the country and likely the continent. These birds range from the humble common quail to the impressive spurwing goose.
We offer plains game and Cape Buffalo hunting on a number of concession areas, either on the home ranch or within a 2 hour drive from the lodge. It is possible to start your morning hunting the formidable Cape Buffalo and end it with a guinea fowl shoot over trained pointing dogs. An experienced professional hunter will accompany you on your outings and ensure that your African experience is unforgettable.
